1. Sangiran Archaeological Museum
The Sangiran Archaeological Museum is one of the leading ones in Central Java. Located in an area of 56 square kilometers, this museum stretches across four sub-districts: Gemolong, Kalijambe, Plupuh, and Gondangrejo, in Karanganyar Regency. The Sangiran site itself is located in the Sangiran Dome area located at the foot of Mount Lawu.

Many researchers believe that Sangiran was the center of a great civilization of ancient humans, because it holds evidence of human existence since 150,000 years ago.
This site is rich in ancient fossils, ranging from human fossils to ancient animals and prehistoric human cultural artifacts. One of the important findings here is the lower jaw fossil of Pithecanthropus Erectus, which was discovered by German archaeologist, Von Koenigswald.

2. Semedo Prehistoric Museum in Tegal
Located in Semedo Village, Kedungbanteng District, Tegal Regency, Semedo Museum is an ancient museum that holds vertebrate fossils from the Pleistocene era, around 1.5 million years ago.
This museum houses around 3,100 fossils, including homo erectus fossils, mandibles, paleolithic tools, chopping axes, chopping axes, and various flake and planer tools.
3. Ngebung Cluster Prehistoric Human Museum in Sragen
In addition to Sangiran, Sragen also has the Ngebung Cluster Prehistoric Human Museum located in Ngebung Village, Kalijembe District. This museum stores various ancient relics, such as animal fossils, artifacts, and remains of prehistoric life.

Here there are fossils of prehistoric humans, homo erectus, which are around 1.8 million years old, older than the homo erectus fossils in the Sangiran Museum which are 1.5 million years old.
This fossil is the oldest prehistoric human fossil found in Indonesia.
5. Patiayam Archaeological Site in Kudus
The Patiayam Archaeological Museum is located in Terban Village, Jekulo District, Kudus, Central Java. This museum is also one of the interesting places to visit for those who want to learn more about ancient history.

The Patiayam Site, located in Kudus Regency and covering several districts in Pati, is one of the most complete archaeological sites ever found. At this location, around 1,500 fossils have been identified, including fossils of ancient animals found by local residents. Among the fossils are parts of bull bones, buffalo heads, rhino bones, deer, tigers, cow teeth, crocodiles, and various other bones. One of the most prominent discoveries is the fossil of the ancient elephant tusk Stegodon trigonocephalus, which is a favorite in Patiayam.
According to information from kuduskab.go. id, this site also has other important evidence, such as the discovery of ancient humans (Homo erectus), vertebrate fauna, and invertebrate fauna. In addition, stone tools used by humans from ancient cultures were also found, all of which came from layers of soil that had not been broken for more than a million years.
In the past, the Patiayam site was part of Mount Muria which stretched over an area of 2,902.2 hectares. On September 22, 2005, Patiayam was designated as a cultural heritage by the Central Java Archaeological Heritage Conservation Center, after long being known as one of the important locations for research on ancient humans (hominids) in Indonesia.
